What MyOwnDay Is

MyOwnDay is a private mood check-in and journaling app for iPhone and iPad. You choose how you feel, optionally write a few words or attach a photo, keep affirmations that help, and follow personal journeys. Your check-ins turn into a paper-style journal automatically.

There is no account, no sign-up and no MyOwnDay server. The app is built to work entirely on your own device.

What Igney Collects Through MyOwnDay

Nothing. Igney receives no personal data through MyOwnDay.

The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting service, and no way to send anything to Igney. There is no network address of any kind in the app — no Igney server, no API, no content delivery network, no tracker.

Igney does receive personal data if you choose to write to us. That is covered under Support correspondence below, and it is the only route by which Igney ever receives anything from you.

What MyOwnDay Stores on Your Device

The app stores what you put into it:

• your mood check-ins, and any reflection you write with them
• a photo, if you choose to attach one to a check-in
• your custom affirmations and your favourites
• your personal journeys, their check-ins and streaks
• your journal stickers
• your settings: language, reminder preferences, widget choice, App Lock

All of it is stored inside the app's own storage on your device. Igney has no copy of any of it.

iCloud Sync

If your device is signed into iCloud, MyOwnDay mirrors that data to your own private iCloud database, so it can appear on your other devices signed into the same Apple Account.

That database belongs to your Apple Account. Igney operates no server that receives this content and has no access to it through the app. iCloud is Apple's service and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

If you are not signed into iCloud, the app works locally instead. No feature is gated behind iCloud, and Settings → iCloud Sync always shows the current status.

Photos and Camera

A mood check-in can optionally carry one photo, from your camera or your photo library.

• The camera is used only when you tap the camera button on a check-in. iOS asks your permission the first time. If you decline, the camera option stops working; the photo library and everything else in the app carry on normally.
• The photo library is read through Apple's system photo picker, which runs outside the app. MyOwnDay never gets access to your library — only to the one image you pick.
• The photo is re-encoded as a new JPEG before it is saved. Location and other metadata from the original photo are not carried over.
• The photo is stored with that check-in on your device, and in your own iCloud if sync is on. It is not sent anywhere else.

Face ID, Touch ID and App Lock

App Lock is an optional 4–6 digit PIN for MyOwnDay only, separate from your device passcode.

• The PIN itself is never stored. Only a salted verifier is kept, in your device's Keychain, marked device-only — it does not sync to iCloud Keychain.
• Face ID or Touch ID unlock is optional on top of the PIN. Apple performs the match on your device; MyOwnDay is told only yes or no and never receives biometric data. If you decline the biometric permission, biometric unlock stops working and the PIN still works.
• If you forget the PIN, Igney cannot reset it and there is no recovery code. Deleting and reinstalling the app clears it, which also removes the app's local data on that device.

Notifications

Check-in and journey reminders are optional. They are scheduled entirely on your device by iOS; nothing is sent from a server. If you decline the notification permission, reminders stop working and nothing else changes.

One thing worth knowing: a journey reminder shows the title you gave that journey in the notification. If your Lock Screen shows notification content, that title can be read by anyone looking at your screen. iOS Settings → Notifications lets you hide previews.

Widgets

MyOwnDay's widgets read a small snapshot the app writes into a shared container on your device (an App Group). That snapshot holds your current mood, the current affirmation — which may be one you wrote yourself — and, if you selected one, a personal goal. It stays on the device and is readable only by MyOwnDay and its own widget extension.

The interactive check-in widget writes a real check-in directly from the widget, without opening the app. That record is saved to the same on-device storage as any other check-in.

Sharing Your Journal

MyOwnDay can export your journal as a PDF and hand it to the iOS share sheet. That is you sharing, not Igney: whoever you send it to, and whichever app you send it through, receives the contents of that PDF. Igney is not a recipient and no Igney infrastructure is involved.

There is no other export and no other sharing feature in the app.

Data Sharing, Data Sale and Third-Party Services

• Igney does not share your MyOwnDay data with anyone, because Igney does not have it.
• Igney does not sell personal data.
• MyOwnDay contains no third-party frameworks of any kind — no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no attribution SDK. The app links only Apple's own system frameworks: SwiftUI, Foundation, SwiftData, UIKit, CloudKit, WidgetKit, UserNotifications, LocalAuthentication, Combine, Security, PhotosUI, CryptoKit, CoreData, AVFoundation and AppIntents.
• The app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites and shows no ads.
• MyOwnDay does not analyse, summarise, translate or AI-generate anything you write. Your words stay your words.

Crash and usage reports you may see attributed to MyOwnDay in Apple's tools are collected by Apple, under your own device setting for sharing analytics with developers. That is Apple's collection under your control, not Igney's.

Support Correspondence

If you email Igney, Igney receives your email address, anything you choose to put in the message, and whatever your mail provider attaches to it.

• Why: to read your message and reply to it.
• Legal basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — answering people who contact us about our own app.
• How long: support correspondence is kept while it remains useful for handling your enquiry and any related follow-up, and is deleted when it is no longer needed for that purpose.
• Deletion: write to privacy@igney.com and ask, and it will be deleted.

Please do not send screenshots of personal journal entries. Igney does not need them.

Keeping and Deleting Your Data

• Individual entries — delete them inside the app.
• Everything on one device — delete the app. Its local storage goes with it.
• The iCloud copy — deleting the app does not remove your iCloud copy. In iOS Settings, open your Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, and remove MyOwnDay's data there. Turning off iCloud for the app stops further syncing.
• Support email — see above.

Because Igney never receives your MyOwnDay data, there is nothing to ask Igney to delete on that side, and nothing Igney could restore if you delete it.

Security

MyOwnDay relies on the protections iOS provides: the app's own storage sandbox, the Keychain for the App Lock verifier, and Apple's encryption for iCloud. No app can promise that data is impossible to reach, and this one does not.

Children

MyOwnDay is written for adults and is not directed at children. It is not in Apple's Kids Category. Igney collects no personal data through the app from anyone, of any age.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version is posted on this page with a new date and a new audited app version.

Igney is a Danish company, so European data protection law applies.

Legal basis for processing

Igney receives no personal data through MyOwnDay, so there is no app processing to have a legal basis for. The data MyOwnDay holds is on your own device and in your own iCloud, under your control.

The one thing Igney does process is support correspondence, on the basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): replying to people who write to us about our own app. That basis is described in the support section above.

Retention

Support correspondence is kept while it remains useful for handling your enquiry and any related follow-up, and is deleted when it is no longer needed for that purpose.

Igney retains nothing else about you, because it receives nothing else about you.

International transfers

privacy@igney.com is hosted by Simply.com A/S, Denmark, inside the EEA, under a signed Article 28 data processing agreement. No third-country transfer arises from contacting Igney, so there is no Article 13(1)(f) safeguard to name.

Apple's services — iCloud in particular — operate under your own relationship with Apple, not under a transfer by Igney.

Automated decision-making

There is none. Igney carries out no automated decision-making or profiling with legal or similarly significant effects.

MyOwnDay does pick which affirmation to show and counts your streaks, but that runs on your own device, Igney never sees it, and no legal or similarly significant decision follows from it. It is not Article 22 processing.

Your rights

You have the following rights. What each one means here:

• Access — Igney holds no personal data about you from MyOwnDay to give you. Your MyOwnDay data is already in your hands, in the app. For support correspondence, ask and you will get a copy of it.
• Rectification — there is nothing held through the app to correct. You can edit your own entries in the app at any time.
• Erasure — delete the app to remove its data from a device, and remove the iCloud copy in iOS Settings as described above. For support correspondence, ask and it will be deleted.
• Restriction — you can ask Igney to restrict processing of your support correspondence.
• Portability — Igney holds no MyOwnDay data to provide. The app can export your journal as a PDF for your own use; it has no other export.
• Objection — because support correspondence is processed on the basis of legitimate interests, you have the right under Article 21 to object to that processing. Write to privacy@igney.com and it will stop.
• Withdrawal of consent — where you gave iOS permission for the camera, photo library, notifications or Face ID, you can withdraw it at any time in iOS Settings → MyOwnDay.

Any request can be sent to privacy@igney.com and will be answered.
